If you feel suicidal, please call 1-800-273-8255 & you will get help*
*Unless you’re poor and/or you’re mentally ill — Google & breathe?
This is not me saying “don’t reach out for help.” I hope you’re luckier than me.
I am tired of the misconception that all you need to do when you are suicidal is to call a hotline. and from that, you will receive the help and care you need. because you won’t if you’re poor or your insurance lacks coverage of insurers. (A $3000+ night in the hospital isn’t a replacement for regular care. I need to see a doctor regularly. Not have a safe room for a night then kicked out. I can have friends watch me for free).
I’ve called fifty+ people and places in Maine. Downloaded names from insurance, called insurance for referrals, asked for referrals from doctors, googled, called local crisis hotlines, googled, called local psychiatric treatment facilities and hospitals, called general medical facilities, called my state representatives, called, googled, called some more. What else do I do?
If you know a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse, in Maine, hopefully the Portland area (no car), that takes new patients, Harvard Pilgrim Insurance, or can see me on a sliding scale off insurance that isn't $600+ a month for the first month (I've called around and asked. I have $90,000 in student loan and medical debt, but my salary is too high for most qualifying programs. I'm broke and poor, but I'm rich? HAH!) — Email email@example.com.
I appreciate other offers of holistic medicine, but unfortunately I was just diagnosed as Bipolar (fortunate for me! I'm finally on the right healing path, with the right medicine!), so I need psychiatric medicine to stay at a stable, healthy, loving level, instead of cycling between manic depression and deep depression.
If you want to donate to help me with co-pays for a Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse in Portland, here is my Paypal link. This page outlines how I will create you art in an exchange for a donation and my current situation. Payments will also help me pay for my current Intensive Outpatient Therapy that I'm currently in. (It's not a prescribing medical facility. But helping tremendously with PTSD/anxiety).
